Q:Is fast always better?

 

A: Brainstorming and quick responses have become the norm in the ways we work together. We expect people to give us their best answers on the spur of the moment. Some of us are able to do that – having the ability to rapidly process, and so we thrive under these conditions. Most of us, however, do better with a bit (or a lot) more time to think things through. And our best answers may come after sleeping on it. So if you want better contributions from more of your folks, you might want to give them a heads up. Send them the question the day before, invite them to think it over and come prepared to share their thoughts. Give the ruminators time to add in their rich contributions.
